The Shumai of Life is the fifth chapter of the Shin Chūka Ichiban! manga, and within Volume 1.

Summary[]
With only half the time left, Mao has began making the fifty servings of shumai from the beginning. Mei Li and others are concerned but Shiro calls for them to trust Mao.
The result is one huge steaming basket, with one giant shumai within. Shell voices that the smaller shumai within must not be cooked, but Ruou notes they have been and concludes Mao must have used hot coals.
Investigating, it is discovered that Mao has continued the deliciousness of all parts of the pig used within the different areas of the shumai.
This results in Mao winning the contest, and praised for his imagination by Shell.
